I was totally in love with this new LFG thing but I just got done running heroic violet hold on my hunter alt... the staff dropped and it was an upgrade from my blue, so I asked if I could need it.

But there was a druid in the group who said he REALLY needed it and before I could even blink, someone did that vote thing and I was kicked out of the party. WTF.

1:41AM - Since you guys reply faster than Blizzard Tech support...

So I'm in Ratchet and I'm running to catch the boat which is taking off. I jump and land right behind the boat. Somehow it's dragging me along with it! Great. Not the best server at the bow but I'll take what I can get. The loading screen is stuck. It says I'm in Stranglethorn to other people but I don't load back up. So I quit WoW from the taskbar and load it back up. I disconnect as soon as my character pops up. Twice. I can't really unstick my character if I can't even stay logged in. What do I do?

11:29PM - Power Auras

Thank you for the suggestion of Power Auras from my prot pally post the other day. I downloaded and am slowly figuring out how to use it, but in setting it up for my ret spec I've run up against two problems so far:

I have Crusader Strike and Divine Storm macro'd to the same key. No particular reason except I needed to make space in my toolbar, and now I'm just used to that configuration. When I tried to set up each of the spells in Power Auras though, it doesn't seem to be sensitive to whether I am pressing 5 or shift-5. It reacts to both so I can't tell which spell is available. Is this fixable?

How do I get it to show me both when Art of War procs and Exorcism is available, in one icon? I keep seeing references to it in Google searches, but no explanation of how to do it.

So i was reading an interview that wowhead blog has listed... most of it is a rehash of what we already know (can't people think of new questions? >.>), but two points I found rather interesting....


Will there be flying mounts that could take passengers in the future?

This is something we are planning on adding at some point in the future.

Will it be possible to add an "instance spectator" mode to the game?

This is a feature that we would like to add for both raids and Arenas in the future.

What sort of addons do you ladies use for your map? I'm currently mourning the loss of my Cartographer and can't seem to find a suitable replacement. I've been fighting with Alphamap to make it bend to my will, but so far no luck. Any former cartographer users have suggestions for different addons?!

4:41PM - A caster question - which weapon to use?

This might be an awfully noobish question, but bear with me.

While leveling, my main (arcane/FFB mage) used staves pretty exclusively because they were easier to find. Upon hitting 80, I discovered that using a caster sword/off-hand combo was easier at the time.

Currently, I use a Seethe and Ward of the Violet Citadel combo, but I've been eyeballing the Engraved Gargoyle Femur from HPOS.

Would the staff be better than my current combo? I get really confused when comparing mainhand/offhand combos with staves, so if anyone has any tips for an easier way to calculate changes (because the shift-click only shows the staff replacing a particular item and not them both, right?).

For you caster-types, do you prefer a MH/OH combo or a staff?

12:30PM - Apple Streusel Bars

Who doesn't love baked goods that feature apples? I know I do, and it's definitely Kramer's favorite kind of treat next to something made with peanut butter. The only problem is that I'm lazy and I hate having to make crusts and doughs and that kind of thing that you have to roll out or let rise. So sue me! I'm busy. That's why I love these apple streusel bars. You get all of the delicious, caramely apple-pie flavor without all the work. I added some toffee bits in with the apple mixture, too, and they got all melty and delicious. These will make you think of happy holiday memories, and the time that it takes to make these is nothing compared to a pie or a turnover or something like that. The streusel crumb topping really brings it all together, and the icing drizzled on top takes it all home for me. Go ahead and make this for your next holiday gathering, or just the next time you want something sweet. It's really easy and I bet you already have everything you need in the cupboard. 2:52AM - Pimping boxed cake mix

So, I'm normally pretty hardcore about making everything from scratch but Kroger recently had a sale on all Duncan-Hines cake mix for a dollar a box. Which was way too awesome a deal to pass up so I grabbed a few in hopes of being able to modify them from acceptable to OMG delish. Duncan-Hines mix requires the addition of: 1/3 c vegetable oil, 3 large eggs, and 1 1/3 c water.

I thought I could try this instead: 1/3 c melted butter, 2 large eggs, 2 oz cream cheese, and 1 1/3 c milk.

Do yo think this would work? Or would it just result in some bizarre mutant cake thing? My trial run is going to be with the lemon supreme mix, which I am making lemon cupcakes with black raspberry cream cheese frosting. Lemon and raspberry gets me all sorts of happy. Doing this trail run is really important, as I will be applied the same modification to the yellow cake mix I got for my boyfriend's bday cake. His mother used to cook everything out of a box so sometimes he prefers box to homemade from scratch. His is going to be a classic yellow cake with rich chocolate fudge frosting and a chocolate ganache filling and chopped reese's on top. I can't wait to see him eat it!

Moving past the rambling, any advice on altering a box mix would be great and if my idea would work.

Hey guys,

So I've been a member of this community for a few years. I don't update all that much, because I never think to take pictures before people have begun devouring my baked goods, but this is where I always go for a lot of my recipe ideas. So a few years ago there was a brownie request post (I tried looking in the tags but I couldn't find it) and it had this link to a scanned image of "The World's Best Brownies." I'm pretty sure that was the title. I don't remember what it was from, but those are the most epicly amazing brownies I've ever had. I had it saved to my hard drive, but of course, my hard drive failed and now I'm left without the world's most delicious brownies. Does anyone remember the recipe I'm talking about?

I remember it had nearly a pound of butter, a ton of chocolate, and recommended that you let them sit for a day before eating them (a feat that is nearly impossible to accomplish). I do however, remember the taste. They were super moist and gooey and chocolatey and amazing. If anyone knows what recipe I'm talking about, I will pretty much love you forever.

Oh and so it's not entirely just a wordy post...

Okay.

I am a EU girl on US realms which I have been messing around on for a year to play with friends overseas, cool beans. Luvs it.

I have a very dead EU account that has BC on it, and a baby druid. I had this before I got a US account and sometimes played with my friend's kid, he has health issues and I have known him since he was born so of course, when he suddenly strikes up an interest in WoW again and wants me to play with him, I want to try and ressurect my EU account again.

What I want to know is; I have wotlk game client downloaded on my pc for my US account, my EU account is BC. Will I be able to download the EU version of WoW without problems? What do I need to do to make this work?! Is it even possible?

3:58PM - Raiding Resto Druid Check-in!

So, my lovely raiding trees, let's talk patch changes. How has the patch affected you? I haven't seen a lot of good discussion on how the patch has changed things for us.

Did you regem for hastecap? How much spellpower did you lose on average? How is your healing compared to other trees who have/haven't changed their haste rating yet?

We got a new tree just as the changes went live, and he's doing more EHPS than me while still at 400 haste, but I suspect that he's either just better than me or not raiding at 400 ms lag. Other new tree isn't haste capped either but we're much more evenly spread on the meters. I wish I had a long-term tree healing buddy in guild to compare with.

Are you using the glyph of rapid rejuv? In all situations? Where is it really shining? What glyphs did you replace?

I'm running WG/Swiftmend/Rejuv for 25s and Nourish/Swiftmend/Rejuv for 10s right now, but I'm wondering if the WG bonus is worth it for most of ICC25 - there's not a lot of clumped raid damage except for D&Ds, the trash before Lady, and people standing in fire/cleave on Marrowgar. Nothing like Twins/Steelbreaker, or Acidmaw/Dreadscale poison and fire. I LOVE rapid rejuv though - it feels really great on tanks, on raid spike damage, for 5s. I love being able to toss just one heal on the tank and then DPS my way through heroic pugs. I'v noticed a loss of about 2k on my top end Nourish crits without the glyph, which sucks.

How's mana been?

I had some TERRIBLE mana troubles our first week after regemming. I lost a ton of spirit in the change to my haste set. I had to go to an Mp5 flask and beg innervates off our feral. But then the week after, once the raid learned to minimize damage and I got the sexy new staff off Saur10, I'm back to normal.

Ooh, and spec! I went to celestial focus, since otherwise I would have to wear a pvp trinket to get haste capped. I threw the extra point in the extended range for balance spells, which I'm digging in FC and PvP. I took Revitalize for the utility and lost Living Seed, which is about a 3-4% healing loss but I think it makes up for it in raid DPS/healer mana. I am strongly considering taking 2 points out of Nature's Bounty to fill out Empowered Touch. Does anyone know of any maths on which is better? 10% crit or 20% bonus healing? I haven't seen any on EJ yet.

And can I just grumble that 1. We need 736 haste and they put 140 on our tier set?? THANKS. 2. How FUG is that brown robe they call T10? It's so boring, it looks like an oatmeal sackcloth. Do not want. 3. I hate doing Santa's Little Helper because I cannot shift forms. My fingers twitch over those buttons constantly wtb tree wtb birdie wtb wtb oh I'm dead anyway.

Oh, one more question - when are you switching to T10 - 2p/2p?

Did you already break your 4 for the haste set? I managed to keep mine, though my crit rating took a dive from about 25% to 12% so I duno if it's even worth it.

Basically, let's talk tree! What's going on with yo' branches.

2:26PM - Quick Query

Out of curiousity, has anyone else gotten the ocassional critical error from WoW since 3.3? Just since 3.3 came out I've been getting them periodically, from doing things as simple as just logging in and standing in Silvermoon. I looked up the Error Reports and googled the first four lines, finding a wealth of posts on the Technical Support forums @ the official website. The majority of them are similar (if not the exact) as mine, and the solutions in every thread tend to be "delete your WTF, Cache and AddOns folders". I've done that and ran the WoW Repair tool, but I still get the errors. I think I'm going to have to dig around a little deeper and see what's going on, but I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this error - specifically, since 3.3's release. My assumption is that if anyone has it's been sparse or they found a fix for it that worked otherwise they'd have probably polled people here like I'm doing, but I figure it can't hurt.

I suppose my next step is going to be posting my error log and dxdiag to the Technical Support forums, but I anticipate being told to "clear my WTF, Cache and AddOns folders". Can't hurt to see what happens, though.

the Tech Support forum is scary. From the handful of threads I read it seems like there's a lot of "hey-I-know-more-about-computers-than-you-so-shut-up-hey-no-YOU-shut-up-no-YOU!" there.

2:11PM - 80, now what? rogue guide

I hit 80 with my first character on Tuesday. I must say, it's like having your 27th birthday - doesn't feel any different from 26. She's a combat specced rogue with some LW and some dungeon blues, but surely not great stuff. I don't even know what my DPS is and I'm not sure I want to know.

Anyway, I was in a guild group last night and we totally failed at Forge of Souls. We wiped 3 times on Bromjahn. He was casting something that was instantly killing the mage (my husband) and warlock (my husband's best friend). Then our healer would die and the tank and I would spank away at Brom barely doing any damage before he'd just kill us both. The mage, warlock, and priest have all been 80 for awhile and are decently geared. The warrior tank is the GM of the guild and is the best tank I've ever played with. I've never wiped in an instance with any of these people. The GM insisted that he changed the instance from heroic (which we intended to try initially) to reg since I'm newly 80, but is it possible that he didn't? We were even having problems on trash and my husband kept saying, "what the hell? I ran this instance on heroic with a PUG the other night and we didn't have any problems!!"

Regardless of what was going on, I need help. Anyone know of a good 80 rogue guide that's in plain English (leet speak makes my brain explode) and is reasonable for a casual player with two young kids? I want to be able to do instances with my husband and guild, but not if I'm going to make it suck for everyone.

11:02AM - WoW crashing after 3.3?

Has anyone else had random crashes of WoW since the patch? I've never ever had a problem with the whole thing just seizing up and performing some illegal action. And now suddenly since last week Tuesday, it happens all the time. I went so far as to delete my WTF folder and that fixed things for about 3 days and now, every morning when I log in to any character, it crashes before I even reach wherever I parked myself, and at random intervals it just /kerpluts and kicks me out. I've googled the various codes that it gives me and the only thing it ever says is to delete the WTF folder and I'm tired of reconfiguring all of my add-ons every time.

Since healer horror stories from the new LFG system are always fun I thought I'd share mine from yesterday. Yesterday I figured I'd take a break from my main server and go pick up a couple of frosts on my paladin on Dawnbringer. Suffice to say, I didn't get them.

First random I pull is Oculus. Nobody's favorite but I figure I'll do it. The party is four death knights and right away the problems start. The tank pulls before I've even finished buffing and topping off mana and for the next two pulls completely fails to round up the mobs in any kind of meaningful way. With whelps constantly bombarding me all I can say is thank goodness for Beacon of Light. Everyone in the party is taking massive damage on every pull, to the point where I'm having to stop and drink after every pull. (Usually I can go through an entire instance without ever drinking once.) And seriously, four death knights and none of them can interrupt a trash mob's channeled cast? Please. Finally we finish one pull with me at about 2000 mana from all the insane damage and I say that I'm stopping for mana. The tank charges down the platform anyway, pulls, and they wipe. I drop group at that point.

Next random is Halls of Reflection. We make it to the third wave and then wipe. Everyone then stands there without bandaging or eating, expecting me to heal them to full. I politely say in chat that it would be much faster if they would sit and eat rather than waiting for me to mana up, heal them all, then mana up again. Every_single_member of the group responds with "I have no food." Or "lol no food." When the warlock finally says "I'm too cheap to buy food lol." I reply "Why should that be my problem?" and drop group. Maybe that was uncalled for, but at this point I was tired of being expected to do everything for everyone.

I went back to my main server, leaving my poor pally to go hungry on emblems that day.

EDIT:: I forgot to mention that after the wipe in HoR they asked me why I wasn't using Turn Undead to fear the mobs. I had to explain to them that the fear has a 1.35 second cast time, during which they will not get healed and they will die. Seriously, who asks a healer to do things like that? Most groups I'm in I get yelled at just for dropping a judgment to increase my spell haste and these guys want me to stop healing and cast fear?

Hi,

So my favorite frosting is basically Cool Whip + pudding because it's super easy and actually tastes good. No pipe-ability whatsoever. I was wondering if I added confectioner's sugar to this to stiffen it up, a) would that actually work? b) would it taste bad? Obviously it will be much sweeter but I'm hoping it would still taste okay. TIA! :)

10:40AM - three questions

1. I've heard that you can as of patch 3.3 send BOA items to toons on your account in the opposite faction. How do you go about doing that?

2. When do we get the BB guns to do the PVP achievement? My guild's trying to plan a run for this. We imagine it's under the tree on Christmas day-- can anyone confirm?

3. Does anyone have a good resource guide for leveling a Pally that's actually up-to-date and doesn't refer to talents or spells that no longer exist? I'm especially looking for some spec advice for both Ret (for leveling) and Healing (for Pugging) specs @lvl 21 (what I currently am), @40, and @58. Any thoughts on spec or pally leveling in general are welcome.

I've been poking about online hunting Bear-centric websites. Haven't found much, to be honest. Maybe I fail at Google, or maybe what I want doesn't exist. I've found sites focused on Druids, and sites focused on tanks, but no sites devoted to Druid tanks. I found blogs, but i've been searching for more community-type Bear sites. I don't count blogs as those are more 'one person posting' and others replying, as opposed to an actual forum where there's no 'star' of the site.

So I created my own forum for Bear tanks.

I call it Butterbear.

Just made it last night, so there's not much going on at the moment. Still tweaking it a bit. I don't expect it to be a huge hit. I just wanted someplace where Bears can feel the /love. We can talk about Bear things, exchange stories, share whatever we feel like sharing. There's a general Druid section, too, but the focus is Bear. All are welcome to join.

And I think i'll explain something before it's asked...
The name "Butterbear" comes from a joke with my guildies. Two guys from a different guild we have an alliance with found out i'm female. And single. And saw a RL photo i'd posted to my own guild's forum. Next thing I know they're both flirting all over me. And since i'm a decent sort of tank they have reason to want me running raids with them.
Well, guildies commented that they were "buttering me up" so they'd have a raid-bear (theirs took a break to go Cat for a bit at the time, I think). Hence the term "Butterbear" was born. The full expression they came up with is "Everything's Good, Butterbear." They're silly. But the nickname's stuck and i've gotten used to it. So it was the first thing that popped into mind, that wasn't overused, when I went to create my little Bear forum.

7:43AM - Another PUG post - but NOT a rant! XD

I have noticed, like most of you, that because the random PUG generator puts people together, there's no reason for people to talk. No "Can I get a summon please?" or "I have a healer if we still need one." We don't have to talk. So, the ice doesn't get broken. And I can be kinda quiet and reserved, so I may not talk unless other people are talking. But last night I decided to start an experiment. I ran two PUGs and both times I started out, as soon as we got into the instance, with a very bright and cheery "Hi! How is everyone doing today?"

And both groups actually did start talking more. Usually it was just 1 or 2 people chatting with me, but it made the run more pleasant. I'll have to continue this experiment and I encourage you girls to try it out, too. :)

My main is a level 80 Night Elf Warrior on Sporeggar-EU. I also have numerous alts on other realms. I'm hoping that this community will allow me to meet some new friends and will help me to become a better tank. :D

I wanted to ask about stats and equipment for tanking. What would you recommend for heroic dungeons and raids? I have a defence rating of 544 and my HP is around 25k (maybe slightly over). I would like to do more heroics and raid, but can't quite manage it with what I have.

7:28PM - cranberry-pistachio biscotti

I know someone already posted a cranberry-nut biscotti entry this month, but mine's different! I chose these cookies not only for their festive colors and flavors (red cranberries, green pistachios), but also because biscotti are one of the best things to package and hold up for a very long time, which makes them the ideal thing to mail. Plus they’re the perfect thing to accompany coffee or tea, which almost everyone I know enjoys.

10:17AM - The nice PuG

I've had some horrors in my time and by running lots of HCs recently the list is growing. But, this is the story of a nice PuG, where mistakes happened and no one left, and people talked to each other.

I've gone back to trying to heal on my Pally, and its a bit of a steep learning curve for me. After a few mistakes by others, e.g. the DK walking off the edge in FoS, we got to the final boss and I just couldn't heal it. I've done it fine on my priest, but after two wipes I gave up.

"Sorry guys, I can't heal this. You'd best go to back to the queue and get a better one."

So I left. The leader then whispers me:

"Do you have another spec?"

"Sure, Dps."

"Well the Shaman will heal then."

"My stuff is in the bank."

"No problem, just HS back and then portal in and we'll wait."

So I did.

After what felt like hours later, I caught up with them and we downed the boss very easily. We went on to do PoS too before we said our goodbyes and went back to our respective realms.

So here's to this PuG, may Great Father Winter bring you all that you want this year.

For the longest time, I used Ammo-matique to manage my ammo; it'd automatically swap between cheaper and spendier arrows depending on whether I was targeting trash or bosses, as well as put all my arrows into one specific bag so things are tidier. Well, it hasn't been updated since October, and 3.3 broke it a bit so that, when I left-clicked on something to select it for attack, my cursor would turn into the ammo pile currently in use; if I clicked on nothing, it'd ask me if I wanted to delete the ammo pile, and if I clicked on my bars, it'd exchange the pile with the icon in that place, even though my bars are locked. Extremely annoying, especially in the middle of combat.

I disabled the addon and the bug seems to have gone away for now (at least, it hasn't repeated since I turned it off), but it's utterly spoiled me for ammo management and I'm rather senile in my old age so I don't always remember to swap manually. Any other hunters out there know of a similar addon, or have recommendations for others that make your lives easier?
